Gifts for Mushroom Lovers
Well it’s that time of year and it’s been awhile since we’ve posted, so we thought why not curate some fun gift ideas for Christmas. Us mushroom hunters love our shroomery, but it often seems there are few fun products out there that excite. We have collected some great things over the years however, and Etsy has a few tricks up their sleeve.
Here are some of our favorites. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
Books
What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us About Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression and Transcendence.
by Michael Pollan
Another great book by Michael Pollan. An even handed treatment of psychedelics including Psilocybin mushrooms by the author of Omnivore’s Dilemna. Look for Pollan to keynote the Telluride Mushroom Festival next year!
On the Trail of an Underground America
by Langdon Cook
We both love this book! Full of fascinating characters who make their living in the world of commercial mushroom hunting, The Mushroom Hunters will delight any of your bookish fungus loving friends. Masterfully written with a literary flare only Langdon Cook can deliver.
Clothing and Gifts
Sarah, Ashley and Korey of NorthernerApparelID have several other fun foraging designs.
How cute are these? BeetHeart is based in Colorado and specializes in organic toddler clothing and fair-trade woven baskets.
SmilingSnake shirts are designed and printed by Jacob P. Lockard. Trent has several of his other mushroom t-shirts. These high quality shirts are super soft with fun, unique designs. We dig em!
Morel, Chanterelle, Porcini Etched Wineglasses
Stemless wine glasses by Cailin Henson. What a beautiful and unique gift for that mushroom loving wine drinker in your life. They can be personalized by the artist as well.
Mushroom illustrations and more by Christopher R. Adams, CORVIDOPOLIS. Many more cool mushroom tarot designs available, check them out! And… cool stickers.
Mushroom Christmas Tree Ornaments
Doesn’t every forager need a mushroom for their Christmas tree? Mushroom Mountain has other wood and fabric mushroom-themed ornaments available too. Even Ikea is in the amanita mushroom ornament game this year, pretty cute!
Foraging Supplies
A popular mushroom knife that works great – Kristen’s favorite foraging knife. You really can’t go wrong with an Opinel. That said, there are cheaper knives out there that work just as well!
These are some sexy looking foraging knives! Telmo Roque handcrafts these blades from reclaimed local furniture industries and donated boar bristles. Try this environmentally and socially sustainable product made in Portugal.
Sagaform Mushroom foraging kit
A foraging kit with knife and canvas carrying bag. We’ve been using these Sagaform bags for years. This one sports a redesign and a price increase but I’m sure it’s still solid.
Don’t forget your best foraging partner! The bells not only protect you both from bears, they help you hear your dog in the woods.
We love these trays and have several. Perfect for storage or cleanup and incredibly handy in the kitchen or campsite.
Hanging Drying Rack
A perfect outdoor drying rack. Use while camping or at home for air drying your harvest.
Other Cool Stuff
Mushroom Wrapping Paper & Gift Bags
These Ikea designs are awesome. I just wish they came in a fabric as well.
Gaia GPS App Premium Membership
Honestly this one should be at the top of the list. Super awesome App, we use it all the time. Best. Gift. Ever.
Mushrooms
Grow mushrooms all winter right in your house. We use these kits from our friends at Mushroom Mountain and they really work!
Pure organic, adaptogenic mushroom extracts. Try the lion’s mane for its neuro-protective effects. My favorite mushroom of the moment.

Hey Chris, you are very welcome! Happy Holidays to you as well.
I can add number 21 to the list Chef Chad Hyatt just wrote a brand new book that just came out in November called The Mushroom Hunter’s Kitchen – reimagining comfort food with a chef forager this is absolutely amazing and one of the best gifts that keeps on giving!! From the heart of a mushroom hunter myself and a breast cancer survivor …this book is the bomb!!
Thanks for the suggestion Beth, excited to take a look!
